Choosing Your Side: A Guide to Outdoor Wedding Seating

Bride on the right or left?

what if two brides or two grooms?

Believe it or not, there’s an art to choosing your side at an outdoor wedding, and it goes beyond just finding a comfortable spot.

Firstly, let’s talk about the wind.

Yes, that invisible force that can either be your best friend or your worst enemy on the big day. If you’ve ever attended an outdoor wedding, you know the struggle of trying to keep your hair in place as the wind decides to play its own symphony. To avoid any potential hair disasters, it’s essential to consider the direction of the wind. The last thing you want is for the wind to be behind you, causing your veil to billow in front of your face or worse, blocking the view of your guests.

So, what’s the solution? Simple. Ensure that you and your beloved are positioned in such a way that the wind is not directly behind you. This might require a bit of strategic planning and possibly some adjustments to the seating layout, but trust me, it’s worth it. After all, you want to look and feel your best as you exchange vows with the love of your life.

Now, let’s talk about personal preference.

While the wind direction is crucial for practical reasons, there’s also the matter of personal comfort and preference. Do you have a “good side” that you prefer to be photographed from? Or perhaps you have a particular angle that makes you feel most confident? Whatever the case may be, don’t be afraid to take your personal preferences into account when choosing your side at the ceremony. It’s your special day, and you deserve to feel comfortable and radiant from every angle.

And then there’s the matter of hair jewellery. Whether you’re rocking a stunning updo adorned with delicate pins or letting your locks flow freely with a floral crown, the placement of your hair jewellery can influence your choice of side. You’ll want to ensure that your accessories are showcased to their full potential, so take a moment to consider which side will allow them to shine brightest.

Last but certainly not least, let’s talk about family.

Your loved ones are undoubtedly some of the most important people in your life, so it’s only fitting that they have the best view possible during the ceremony. Consider seating your family opposite you and your partner so that they can see your faces clearly as you exchange heartfelt vows. Their smiles, tears, and expressions of joy will undoubtedly add an extra layer of love and warmth to the occasion.

In the end, choosing your side at an outdoor wedding is a delicate balance of practicality, personal preference, and sentimentality. Whether you’re considering the direction of the wind, your best side for photos, the placement of your hair jewellery, or the visibility of your family, take the time to thoughtfully plan out your seating arrangements. After all, the love and happiness that surround you on your wedding day deserve nothing less than perfection.

Tim and Colin’s wedding at Paracombe Premium Perry

Set against the picturesque backdrop of vineyards and the pear orchard, their ceremony took place in an open grass area below the dam, offering panoramic views of natural beauty. One moment that will remain in my memory is when their daughter made her grand entrance, a surprise that left everyone in awe. Instead of the traditional procession, Tim and Colin appeared separately, each walking atop the dam wall before meeting in the middle, creating an image reminiscent of a wedding cake topper. As they walked hand in hand toward Penelope, their celebrant, for a heartfelt and emotional ceremony, the love and happiness radiating from them was truly palpable.

Why You Don’t Need to Give a Speech at Your Wedding

Why You Don’t Need to Give a Speech at Your Wedding

Your wedding day is a celebration of a beautiful journey together. Traditionally, weddings involve a series of rituals, ceremonies, and, of course, speeches. However, in this modern era where couples are rewriting the rules and making their own traditions, the idea of giving a speech at your wedding is no longer a mandatory requirement.

Here’s why saying “No” to a wedding speech might be the right choice for you.

Authenticity Over Formality:

Weddings often come with a set of expectations, and giving a speech has become one of those expected traditions. However, not everyone feels comfortable expressing their emotions in front of a crowd. Insisting on a wedding speech just for the sake of tradition can lead to a lack of authenticity. Your wedding day is about you and your partner, and the focus should be on celebrating your love in a way that feels genuine to both of you.

Stress-Free Celebrations:

Planning a wedding can be a stressful experience, and the pressure to deliver a perfect speech on top of everything else can be overwhelming. By choosing not to give a speech, you can alleviate unnecessary stress and focus on enjoying the moment. Your wedding day should be a joyful celebration, not a nerve-wracking performance.

Say “No” to tradition if it doesn’t resonate with you, and embrace the freedom to create a wedding day that is uniquely yours.

Wedding Speech & Anxiety

Personalise Your Celebration:

Every couple is unique, and so is their love story. Instead of conforming to traditional norms, take this opportunity to personalize your wedding celebration. Whether it’s through personalized vows exchanged privately or a heartfelt letter to your partner, there are countless ways to express your love without adhering to the conventional wedding speech.

Focus on the Moment:

The whirlwind of emotions on your wedding day can make it challenging to deliver a speech with the clarity and composure it deserves. By choosing not to give a speech, you free yourself from the expectation of performing on command. This allows you to be fully present in the moment, savouring the love and joy surrounding you without the pressure of public speaking.

While wedding speeches have long been a cherished tradition, it’s important to recognise that not every couple feels compelled to participate. Your wedding day is a celebration of love, and how you choose to express that love is entirely up to you. Whether you decide to forgo the speech or opt for an alternative way of sharing your feelings, what matters most is that your celebration reflects the authenticity of your relationship.

How to Choose Your Micro Wedding or Elopement Flowers in Australia

How to Choose Your Micro Wedding or Elopement Flowers in Australia

How to Choose Your Micro Wedding or Elopement Flowers in Australia

Are you a florist?

We are looking for quality florists to join us

wedding flowers

Congratulations on your upcoming micro wedding or elopement in Australia! Whether you’re planning a small gathering with just a few loved ones or an intimate ceremony with just the two of you, selecting the perfect flowers will help create a beautiful and memorable experience. In this blog, we’ll explore how to choose your micro wedding or elopement flowers in Australia.

Whether or not you need flowers for your elopement or micro wedding depends on your personal preferences and the overall aesthetic you are going for.

If you want to incorporate flowers into your ceremony or reception, there are a few different ways to do so. You could carry a bouquet, wear a floral crown or boutonniere, or incorporate floral arrangements into your decor. Alternatively, you could opt for non-floral decor, such as candles, greenery, or other decorative elements.

Ultimately, the decision to include flowers or not is up to you. If you love the idea of having flowers, it can be a beautiful and romantic addition to your elopement or micro wedding. However, if flowers aren’t your thing or don’t fit with the style or theme you have in mind, there’s no need to feel obligated to include them.

Once you’ve decided that you want flowers for, the next step is to figure out what kind of flowers you want and how you want to incorporate them into your celebration.

Consider the Season and Location

The first step in selecting your micro wedding or elopement flowers is to consider the season and location. Different flowers are available throughout the year, and choosing flowers that are in season can help you save money and ensure the freshest blooms. Some popular Australian wedding flowers include roses, orchids, peonies, dahlias, and native blooms like banksia and kangaroo paw.

The location of your wedding can also influence your flower selection. If you’re getting married on a beach, you might consider tropical flowers like hibiscus or frangipani. If you’re tying the knot in a garden, you might choose a mix of wildflowers and greenery.

Decide on a Color Palette

Once you have an idea of what flowers are in season and what will work well in your wedding location, it’s time to decide on a color palette. Choosing a color palette will help you create a cohesive look throughout your wedding, from the flowers to the bridesmaids’ dresses and table settings.

You might choose colors that reflect the season, such as warm oranges and yellows for autumn or soft pastels for spring. Alternatively, you might choose colors that complement your wedding theme or location, such as blues and greens for a beach wedding or bold, bright hues for a modern city elopement.

Think About Your Bouquet

Your bridal bouquet is one of the most important flowers of the day, so it’s essential to choose flowers that reflect your style and personality. Consider the shape of your bouquet, too – do you prefer a round, traditional bouquet, or something more organic and asymmetrical?

It’s also important to think about the size of your bouquet. A small, delicate bouquet might be perfect for an elopement or intimate micro wedding, while a larger, more elaborate bouquet might be better suited to a bigger celebration.

Don’t Forget the Other Flowers

While your bouquet is undoubtedly the star of the show, don’t forget about the other flowers you’ll need for your micro wedding or elopement. You might consider floral arrangements for your ceremony arch, centerpieces for your reception table, and boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen.

It’s essential to choose flowers that work well together and complement your overall colour palette and style. You might choose a mix of blooms and greenery for a wild, organic look, or stick to a single type of flower for a more minimalist approach.

Consult with a Florist

Finally, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the flower selection process or unsure of where to start, consider consulting with a professional florist. A skilled florist will be able to guide you through the process, offering advice on what flowers are in season, what will work well in your location, and how to create a cohesive look.

In conclusion, choosing your micro wedding or elopement flowers in Australia can be a fun and exciting process. By considering the season and location, deciding on a colour palette, thinking about your bouquet, selecting other flowers, and consulting with a florist, you’ll be well on your way to creating a beautiful and memorable wedding day. Congratulations and best of luck!
