Start with what you want to include
Make a short list: a bouquet, buttonholes, flowers for your wedding party or an arrangement for the ceremony and meal. None is compulsory.
Think about the size and weight of anything you will carry. If your ceremony involves walking on sand or a trail, keeping things manageable may matter more than an elaborate design.
Talk with your florist about the conditions
Share your date, location, preferred colours and budget. Ask which flowers are available and how they will cope with heat, wind and time out of water.
Be clear about substitutions if a particular flower is unavailable. Photographs can communicate the shape and feel you like without requiring an exact copy.
Plan delivery and setup
Confirm who collects or receives the flowers, when they arrive and who places ceremony arrangements. Check whether hired vases or stands need to be returned.
If you hope to use ceremony flowers again at the meal, arrange someone to move them and check that the design suits both places.
Keep the details together
Save the final flower list and price with your other supplier bookings. Tell the florist about changes to the venue or timetable.
