How forest weddings work

Forestry SA allows wedding ceremonies in selected forest areas across South Australia.

These are not traditional venues — which is exactly why couples love them.

They’re raw, natural, and beautifully simple.

But there are a few things to know:

• Wedding ceremonies are generally available from April to November
• Receptions are not permitted on Forestry SA land
• Locations are approved case-by-case
• Total Fire Ban days can affect access
• A backup plan is required

It’s not complicated — just different.

Permits & approvals

To get married in a Forestry SA location, you’ll need:

• A Forestry SA wedding/event approval
• A commercial photography permit

You can organise this directly yourself.

Or…

We can handle it for you as part of your booking (small admin fee).

Either way — we’ll guide you through it so nothing gets missed.

Make it more than just a ceremony

Some Forestry SA locations offer:

• Cottages
• Huts
• Campgrounds
• Nearby accommodation

This means your wedding can feel more like an experience — not just a quick ceremony.

Stay the night.
Slow it down.
Make it yours.

Keep it simple

Most couples don’t want to organise multiple suppliers for something this simple.

That’s why we do it differently.

Our core package includes:

• Celebrant
• Photography
• One calm, experienced team

No overthinking.
No juggling vendors.
No stress.

Just a relaxed, meaningful ceremony — done properly.

A few important things

Forest weddings are beautiful — but they do come with a few realities:

• No receptions on Forestry SA land
• Weather and fire conditions can affect access
• Permits are required before your date is confirmed
• Some locations are remote or require light walking

If you’re easygoing and flexible — this works perfectly.

If you want rigid timelines and full control — probably not your thing.

You don’t need a big venue to get married.
You just need the right place — and the right people.
