Including your loved ones in a small wedding

You can keep the guest list small and still find thoughtful ways to involve the people who matter to you.

Choose the people you want beside you

Agree on the ceremony size together, then check the venue and package limits. Be clear about children, partners and the people helping on the day so the total is accurate.

Offer a simple role

A guest might give a reading, bring the rings, play music or help someone get to their seat. Ask first and choose a role they will enjoy.

Give anyone participating the wording or instructions in advance. Your celebrant can help place each part in the ceremony.

Include people who cannot attend

You could arrange a call before or after the ceremony, read a message they have sent or share photographs afterwards. If you want a live video call, check permission, connection, sound and who will operate it.

Ask your photographer about sharing arrangements before promising a live service they have not agreed to provide.

Make the day comfortable

Check transport, seating, toilets and access for your actual guests. Tell people what to expect, including the walking distance, weather plan and any meal afterwards.
