Wild Side Ocean Retreat - Kangaroo Island

What To Know Before Booking

Wildside Ocean Retreat In Detail

The Location

Set on the eastern end of Kangaroo Island, Wildside Ocean Retreat sits on a private 100-acre property overlooking the Southern Ocean.

Perched above dunes and coastline, the house looks out across rolling waves, cliffs, and a completely untouched stretch of beach.
There’s nothing around you — no crowds, no nearby houses — just ocean, wildlife, and open space.

It’s quiet, remote, and intentionally removed from everything.

👉 This is what makes it different.

The Retreat

This isn’t a typical venue — it’s a private luxury home designed to feel both wild and refined.

• Architecturally designed, off-grid retreat
• Elevated ocean views from almost every angle
• Direct access to a secluded beach
• Surrounded by native wildlife and natural landscape
• Designed for slowing down, not rushing through a day

The space is made for staying — not just arriving, getting married, and leaving.

It’s a place where your wedding becomes part of the experience, not the whole event.

The Experience

Most couples don’t come here for a few hours.

They come for a few days.

You arrive, settle in, take in the views, and let everything slow down.
Your ceremony happens naturally within that time — not as a performance, but as part of your stay.

No rushing between locations.
No timeline pressure.
No moving parts.

Just one place, one setting, one experience.

Getting To Kangaroo Island

Getting here is easier than most people think.

By Ferry

Drive from Adelaide to Cape Jervis (around 1.5–2 hours), then take a 45-minute ferry to Penneshaw.

You can take your car across, which is the easiest way to explore the island.

By Air

Flights from Adelaide to Kingscote Airport take around 30 minutes.

From there, you’ll drive to the property.

From Arrival To Wildside

• ~30 minutes drive from Penneshaw ferry terminal
• ~45 minutes from Kingscote Airport

👉 We always recommend arriving during daylight — wildlife and rural roads are part of the island experience.

Getting Around

There’s no Uber or public transport on Kangaroo Island.

Most couples:
• Bring their own car on the ferry
• Or hire a car on arrival

This gives you full flexibility during your stay.

Weather On Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island has a coastal climate, which means it can change quickly — and that’s part of its charm.

What To Expect

Summer (Dec–Feb)
Warm to hot days, cooler coastal breeze
Perfect for long evenings and ocean views

Autumn (Mar–May)
Mild temperatures, softer light
One of the best times for photography

Winter (Jun–Aug)
Cool, moody, and dramatic
Big ocean energy, fewer visitors

Spring (Sep–Nov)
Fresh, green landscapes and wildlife
Unpredictable but beautiful

The Reality

This isn’t a controlled environment.

You might get:
• Still, calm ocean
• Wind rolling across the cliffs
• Changing skies throughout the day

👉 That’s part of what makes this place feel real.

We plan around the conditions and use the property to adapt when needed.

Things To Keep In Mind

• This is a remote location — plan ahead for food and supplies
• Driving at night is not recommended due to wildlife
• Weather can change quickly (bring layers)
• The experience is slower, quieter, and more immersive than a typical wedding

Why This Place Works For A KISS Wedding

Because everything happens in one place.

No venue hopping
No timelines to manage
No outside pressure

Just:
• Your stay
• Your ceremony
• Your time together
