Founded by Ruth and Alan Irving in 1979, AL RU Farm has become a distinguished landmark in South Australia’s garden and wedding industry. Located just 40 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD and nestled between the picturesque Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills, it combines the charm of a country estate with the convenience of a prime location.
The gardens of AL RU Farm offer one of the most romantic wedding settings in the Adelaide Hills. Spanning ten acres, they create the perfect backdrop for your special day. Situated just 30 minutes from Adelaide, AL RU Farm offers the charm and space of a country estate in a convenient location. Its grounds and buildings provide a truly unique and premium offering in South Australia.
Since purchasing AL RU in 1981, the gardens have expanded from a few daffodils to 10 acres. AL RU is a vibrant country garden that changes with the seasons, perfect for garden weddings.
- Winter: Bright pink silene, lime green euphorbia, and prunus blossoms.
- Spring: Daffodils, bluebells, and white and pink blossom trees, followed by campanula, peony poppies, iris, and roses.
- Summer: Hollyhocks, more roses, day lilies, blue and white agapanthus, belladonna lilies, canna, and asters.
- Autumn: Plectranthus and mimulus add colour and fragrance.

Photography: Say “I do” against the stunning gardens, where every glance and touch will be beautifully captured by our professional photographers during 2 hours of coverage. With ample time for yourselves and the option to extend your coverage, you can immerse yourselves in the joy of the moment without any rush.

As an optional extra, why not add accommodation to fully immerse yourselves in the ALRU experience.
Our accommodation has been meticulously designed to create a warm, luxurious, and unique space where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings. We’ve intentionally crafted a fantasy escape, far from the usual and mainstream.
During your stay, you can explore our 10 acres of manicured gardens and enjoy the farm experience. In warmer months, take a dip in the perfectly heated pool, and when it’s cool, cozy up by the open fire. Nearby, you can bushwalk, horse ride, or explore the many wineries, distilleries, and exceptional food venues in the area.
Each of our three suites is generously appointed with the finest fixtures and fittings. You’ll enjoy a well-stocked pantry with espresso coffee and a range of teas. Warm bread is delivered each morning, accompanied by farm-fresh eggs and bacon.

AUSTRALIA SUITE
Our Master suite has one king bed and an extra single bed is available on request. Equipped with kitchen facilities, pillow top mattresses, black out blinds and a walk in shower, the Australia Suite also features a unique display of lights making guests feel as though they are falling asleep under the stars.

GARDEN PAVILION
The Master bedroom has a king bed and a separate second bedroom has two bunk beds. The Garden Pavilion features a separate fully equipped kitchen, generous lounge room space, dining table and classic antique furnishings sourced from destination around the world. The Garden Pavilion also features a wood fire and large glass doors which open up onto a private garden.

INTERNATIONAL SUITE
Our Master suite has a king bed. The second bedroom has 4 bunk beds and a single bed is available on request for the main bedroom, sleeping a total of 7 guests. The room features full kitchen facilities and has two separate bathrooms. A generous lounge area includes a large, mounted flat screen television, the room is styled with furnishings from all over the world. Black out blinds can be drawn to view of view of the rolling, northern Adelaide Hills.
