Five checks before choosing your wedding location

A setting you love is a good start. These five checks help you decide whether it will also work for your wedding.

1. Permission for the actual event

Ask the owner, council or site manager about your ceremony, guest numbers, suppliers and setup. Get the arrangement in writing before booking services around the location.

2. Space for your people

Check the ceremony capacity, seating layout and places for anyone with mobility needs. Include the couple, wedding party and suppliers when the site asks for a total attendance.

3. Access and facilities

Walk the route from parking to the ceremony if possible. Check steps, surfaces, toilets, shade, vehicle access and whether equipment needs to be carried in.

4. A weather alternative

Confirm where the ceremony can move and the conditions for doing so. Check any additional hire cost and the time needed to tell guests and suppliers.

5. The full day and cost

Allow for travel, photographs, a meal and packing away. Compare hire, permits, bonds, equipment and supplier travel alongside your wedding-service quote.
